Mobile applications: technology and architecture

The rapid development of the communications technologies makes it possible that more and more services are independent from the time and the place. The penetration of the population with mobile end devices (mobile phones, personal digital assistants) which are making possible the wireless communication and interaction, is opening forward-looking application fields that are supporting the development of business processes no longer dependent of the location. Still is the first euphoria in M-business not going to last long. The reason for that is at this moment still experimental characters of mobile platforms and the heterogeneity of these available mobile end devices.

From these points the following questions are raising: How can be the technical basis (infrastructure, transfer standards, platforms and end devices) for mobile applications taken into consideration? How can mobile applications be integrated into current business models? How can portable and expandable software architecture be developed for mobile end devices? Can a communication via media without cable-connection guarantee the normal security standards?

The analysis with these aspects occurs in application oriented projects and will be supported through the realisation of practical prototypes. The vision of SCCH is to integrate the mobile user to existing IT-infrastructure and to create information access for all involved persons.
